I’m not much of a watch enthusiast — I’ve only ever owned three. Back in 2011, young and reckless in Macau, I picked up an Armani, supposedly the brand every young guy wanted. I still can’t believe I managed to haggle 10,000 off the price at the casino counter 😂😂😂. These days it’s basically just a fashion watch, but after 10+ years it still looks sharp and keeps time perfectly.
My second was an entry-level Swiss diver — a Tissot Seastar 300. Sold it when I upgraded to Tudor.
For the third watch, I went back and forth between a vintage Speedmaster, a De Ville II, and a Longines Conquest. In the end I went with the Tudor Classic Double Date 56000-0005 with the silver dial. The series comes in all kinds of dials — textured white, black, two-tone — but after comparing them all, nothing beats the light refraction on the silver one 🤩. At 39mm it’s light and easy on the wrist, 10.6mm thick is pretty standard, and 100m water resistance is more than enough for daily wear — a true “Tudor DD” commuter.
It runs the T603 movement, essentially an ETA 2834-2, and it’s incredibly accurate — measured at -2 seconds per day. The newer Tudors have switched to in-house movements though. Between the two, which one is actually more durable? Which is more accurate?
